What’s New?
It’s been 5 years since Laura’s last solo release and she’s very excited to have a new recording project underway this fall! Check back for details!
In early March 2009, Laura was in the studio recording her first CD with Plexigrass, after 2 seasons performing with the group. That CD should be available in June.
In February 2008, Laura was in the studio with the Boston based bluegrass band, Back Eddy. That project is in the final stages of mixing and mastering and should be available for the 2009 festival season.
The Grizzly Bear Chair
Beckys Breakthrough/Cattle in the Cane/Salt River
Recorded prior to Laura's 13th birthday, The Grizzly Bear Chair, has drawn international attention. Drawing on Scottish, Irish and American sources, this recording features 18 tracks of fine old time fiddling with guitar backup. Several cuts are medleys and Laura contributes a few fine originals to the project including the title cut.
Grandad’s Flying Squirrels
Laura's second release, recorded at age 15, features a mix of Southern Old Time fiddling, Celtic and original numbers as well as some fine vocals. Judy Hyman (www.judyhyman.com) in her forward writes: "Laura's technical ability has grown enormously.....her singing and songwriting on New Deal Train are impressive and her abilities as a tunesmith are exciting."
